  • Split screen mode. Up to four splits are allowed.
  • Undo/redo, copy/paste, and access to menu maps and abbreviations.
  • Support for the Windows clipboard
  • Most recently used files accessed from File menu.
  • Use of mouse clicks to move the cursor, follow tags and selecting text.
  • Dragging files onto the application.
  • Use of Property Sheet to adjust Lemmy settings.
  • A configurable tools menu.
  • Status bar information.
  • Configurable fonts and colour schemes. Lemmy also supports syntax highlighting for several file types. Additionally, a user can develop his own syntax highlighting.
  • Extended printing capabilities including the ability to syntax highlight printed output, print with line numbers, print with headers and footers on the page, and to print in varying font types and sizes.
  • Recovery of previous edit sessions after an unexpected interruption controlled from a dialogue.
  • Recall of previous "ex" commands through a dialogue.
  • Search and Replace via a dialogue includes recall of past operations.

New in Version 4.3

  • Ensures that when the file name is changed with the ":file" command, the new name is entered into the main window title and into the file history.
  • If no "command" is specified to the ":g[lobal]" operation, "print" is assumed.
  • Lines containing only a form-feed character (Ctrl+L), cause a page to bethrown when printing. The feature can be controlled with the option "printformfeeds" ("pff" for short).
  • Ensures that all printing is sent via the spooler if spooling is in use.
  • A new menu item, "Buffer Append", is introduced to the "File" menu. The function of this item is to allow further file names to be appended to the current list of buffers. The menu item is only enabled once at least one name already exists in the list i.e.one file is open.
  • A new ex command, "bappend", is introduced. This command is used to specify a file name to be appended to the current list of buffers. The command is analogous to the menu item "Buffer Append".
  • A new option, "bufferappend" ("bap" for short) is defined. When set, selection of a file name from the "File History" list causes it to be appended to the current list of buffers rather than to be opened and replace the currently open file. The option is off by default so that a file selected from the history list is immediately opened.
  • The menu items "File | Save As", "File | Recover", "File | File History", "File | Internet | Open FTP" and "File | Internet | Save FTP" cause the supplied file name to be entered into the buffer list.
  • A bug is cleared where, if the current file has changed, and a different buffer is selected from the "Buffers" list on the "View" menu, nothing happens. The user is now prompted to save the file.
  • A correction is made to context delete (d /pattern). Previously, when deleting over several lines, it was possible to lose the beginning of the start line even though the delete did not start from column zero.
  • Corrects the Java syntax highlighter to correctly highlight the keyword "equals" and not the word "equal".
  • The current buffer list and window list are now available on the floating popup menu that appears when right clicking in the document window.
  • LemTray displays a disk icon against those windows which are in the "Modified" state so that you can see at a glance which windows are in need of a save operation.
  • Corrects a problem where file paths containing . or .. can cause the check for duplicate windows to fail.
  • The maximum length of the file history submenu is increased from 25 to 100.
  • There are now command line arguments available to control the position and size of the top Lemmy window. The arguments are described in the help file.
  • The open and save dialog boxes are changed so that they always begin by displaying the current working directory - even on Windows 2000.
  • Correction to pluginsdk/system.h which was incompatible with the sample source files for the C/C++ and TCL parsers.
  • Correction to LemReg.exe to remove superfluous white space from input data.
  • The HTML syntax highlighter is changed to recognise PHP inserts.
  • There are additional syntax highlighters for SQR, PHP and C#.
